Qualifications for Participants

 

To qualify for Camp Courage you must meet the following requirements:

You must:

  • Have a valid health card
  • Be in good physical condition
  • Be a female 15-19 years of age
  • Complete the required essay (or video)
  • Submit 2 letters of recommendation
  • Submit and complete all required waivers and forms
  • Successfully pass an interview screening (If necessary)
  • Commit to following all rules and regulations of Camp Courage
  • Participate in all activities
  • Have not attended Camp Courage previously

 

In addition, all applicants agree that if they are not selected, this action shall create no liability on the part of Camp Courage, its organizers/volunteers or associated partnerships with emergency services.  The filing of this application shall constitute an agreement of the applicant to these conditions.

 

How to Apply

Please submit a cover sheet, a 300-500 word essay (or a less than 5 min video) and two letters of recommendation to:

The essay should answer one of the following two questions:

  • Describe how you can contribute to your community by making it a better place to live.
  • Describe how you can improve someone else’s life that is less fortunate than yours.

 

Essays should include a cover page that includes the following applicant information:

 

  • Name
  • Street Address
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number(s)
  • School, Grade
  • Date of Birth

 

There are no registration fees to attend Camp Courage, but there is a catch: You must complete what you describe in your essay to better your community and improve someone else's life.

Donations are accepted for the improvement of this initiative.

 

Only essays with COMPLETE cover pages and 2 letters of recommendation sent to Camp Courage prior to April 30th will be accepted.  Once accepted, your camper application is due by June 1st.  Essays and applications will not be accepted after their appropriate due date.

We acknowledge receipt of your essays.  If you haven't received confirmation resend it.

 

Selection Process

Each person has the opportunity to submit essays until April 30th.  After May 1st the Board of Directors meets and reads all the essays, with no names listed (so no preferences are given), each essay is ranked from 1-10 (grammar, spelling...does not matter, just the idea) the marks are compiled, the candidates are selected and notified.  If there are many applicants an interview process may be implemented.

Candidates will likely be notified in May.  You can update or change your essay until the April 30th deadline.

Once selected you will be given a code to access the application forms on line which are due by June 4th.
